Let Me Anoint You With My Presence

i looked up the word "anoint" to get a better understanding of this picture. most of the definitions had to do with oil on the forehead, but one said:

anoint: usually to put oil on something to dedicate it to a particular purpose.

i thought that last bit was crucial. when Jesus anoints us with His presence, i think it is for a purpose. we have purpose when we draw near to Him and when we are in His presence. this picture was titled "God anointed Jesus" which made even more sense. talk about being anointed - when Jesus was anointed with God's presence, He was definitely given a purpose and was able to fulfil that purpose because He was anointed with God's presence. (kind of confusing wording. hope that made some sort of sense. if it did, praise God. ha.)

after this devotional reminded me of the comforting fact that we are SO SMALL compared to God's greatness, it was just so uplifting to put altogether. we are so small and God is so big, and because of this we know where to go to find peace and purpose in our lives. even though "man's measure is too tiny to comprehend [God's] majestic vastness," God tells us that we can still "enjoy the radiant beauty of [His] Presence" as we let Him anoint us with all that He is! in such a place is where we find more purpose than just living each day in and out.

God, we want this. Fill us, overflow us, cover us with all that You are and let us comprehend You and all of Your beauty every day to find a purpose unlike any other. Thank You that You give us this very real option!

happy memorial day weekend! enjoy every bit of it.

love you!
